MT St. Helens

Sarah and I left the hotel around 9am Friday.  We should have left much earlier.  The drive from Hood River to the Johnston Ridge Observatory was about 4 hours.

What a site to see on the way up.  I never thought I would see this Volcano in my life time.
Standing at the wall from the observatory looking into the middle of it.  Left, Center and Right of the Volcano.

Even after 22 years the devastation is still present.

Below is the center lava flow still growing.  Around the lava dome is a glacier forming.

I used the zoom with different settings.

I just had to get a picture of our shadows. It was time to leave this place. We spent about an hour walking around looking and listening to all the information that was on display.

On the back of this sign it said "Entering Blast Zone"
