Pathfinder Transmitter Hunt

Hider: Scot KA6UDZ

The transmitter went on the air a bit late at 19:39. Power output was 8 MilliWatts feeding a 7-Element horizontally polarized Yagi aimed at Johnstone Peak. This was the same antenna used for the main T two weeks ago on the 4th Saturday All-Day hunt. Due to a transistor failure in the T-Controller, the carrier was continuously on. The ID and "T1" was sent at approximate 50 second intervals.

The T was located 12 miles NNE of the start point in Live Oak Park, in the city of La Verne. This park is located in the Southern shadow of the Live Oak Reservoir Dam. The actual T location was approximately 10 feet North of the Northwest corner of the tennis court at a Lat/Long of: 34°8.02'N 117°45.337'W.

Two teams were hunting:

N6ZHZ/W6XRT

and

N6AIN/WA6PYE

The results are as follows:

Team                       Time In     Mileage    Names
N6ZHZ/W6XRT        21:16        43.7        Bob/David
N6AIN/WA6PYE       21:21        48.6        Deryl/Steve

N6ZHZ/W6XRT are the winners despite traveling as far East as Milliken on the 60 before turning back to where their initial bearing pointed.

It is not known to the hider where N6AIN/WA6PYE traveled running up 48.6 miles.
