The Hiders: Steve KD6LAJ and Don KF6GQ

Steve KD6LAJ picked a spot just inbounds near the 215 freeway, above Muscoy. (Don was to hide nearby, but had transmitter problems, went home to fix it, and didn't succeed.) Steve put his ammo box 2watt transmitter on the air with the 15 element boomer antenna about 4 feet high in some brush. Antenna was aimed southwest to clear the ridge. Signal was weak at the start, and apparently weak everywhere else, except near the T. All teams found it with good mileage, but David and Melanie carefully took the extra time and got the win. Steve had snacks and soda for the successful hunters, and when all had arrived, hunters and hider headed for Dennys. A good time was had by all who participated, and many were thankful for not being out until 1 AM.

P.S.
Don called during the hunt and said he had a T that was timed to come on the air at 7:00 pm. Unfortunately it failed to start. If it had, his plan was that we hear it, find it and other Ts he had out near it, then go after LAJs T. Fortunately we never heard it and the hunt ended after finding Steve's T.

On my way home I did hear a KF6GQ T9, when I was transitioning from the 210 to the 605 Freeway. Since I had removed my T-hunt antenna and it was getting late, I decided not to hunt for it. Sorry Don.
