Pathfinder Transmitter Hunt
Hider: Scot KA6UDZ

The T consisted of a Yaesu FT-897, 7-Eleven yagi, and PIC-CON controller. The output of the '897 was attenuated to 2 Watts before being applied to the horizontally polarized Yagi aimed North-Northwest parallel to Main Street. The T went on the air at 7:30 pm.
The T was located 100 feet South of Fujinomiya Douroi on the West side of Main Street, adjacent to Tongva Park, in the City of Santa Monica. The Lat/Long for the T was: 34°0'41.5" N, 118°29'32.3" W.

The first (And only) team consisting of N6AIN and WA6PYE arrived at 9:15 pm. They surely would have been 15 minutes later and had a mileage 3/4 of a mile longer if they had not backed into Fujinomiya Douri from the Northbound lane of Main enabling a U-turn to arrive on the Southbound side of Main where the T was located. Had they proceeded North before turning around, they would have encountered downtown Santa Monica on a Saturday night.

WA6CYY was seen directly across the street and 35 feet from the T taking bearings but apparently did not see it. After circumnavigating Tongva Park, he was seen once again, this time on the West side of Main but South of Olympic (200 Yards South of the T). At this point, 'CYY had experienced enough of Saturday night Santa Monica and the annoying electric scooters and nuts riding them. 'CYY packed it in at around 9:40 pm.

N6ZHZ, W6XRT and ? were somewhere near LAX when 'CYY left the area. At around 10:35 pm, 'ZHZ and company had enough of Santa Monica and left the area before finding the T.

Upon finding the T, WA6PYE remarked that the hider could not have made it any more difficult.
