Pathfinder Hunt

Hiders:Dave Don KF6GQ

This Pathfinder hunt was designed to be a bit different.

I didn’t agree with the last weeks hide. On this hide a code was given at the beginning of the hunt. Apparently this code was to open a security gate. When I got to the gate, there was a sign indicating that this was a private community and was not open to the public. I don’t want to get into a lot of reasons for this being a bad idea to allow hides to be placed in areas that are not normally open to the public. So this hide was set up so those that are thick headed can see why it’s not a good idea. I sent a note to be passed out at the start of the hunt that indicated the T or T’s might be hidden on private property. Now because of the failure of one of the T’s I had to move two of the T’s to my house, which wasn’t very intimidating enough. Two other T’s T2 & T3 where set up to cause problems to the hunters if they felt they had to go onto/into the area that the T signal seemed to be coming from. T3 was not supposed to be at the end of the hunt, it just happened that way, because the hunters went for the other T’s first. T3 was within 2 miles of the start point, so I really thought that the teams would spent several hours trying to figure how to get to the area that the signal was coming from, without being shot at. I will save it till I feel I need to use it again. T2 was up in back of Linda Vinda closed community in Altadena. There was a guard at the gate and the signal was coming right out of the community. The T was actually up on a hill in back of the community and it takes a circuitous route up through the foothills to get to the T.  Snake T was a T which could be heard clearly from T2 location, and was accessible on a road not far from T2. T9 which was the first signal that was heard from this side of the valley was up on the north east side of Monrovia. T8 & No Trespassing T’s where located at my home in Monrovia. I will not disclose the location of T3. Thanks for those hunters that came out on the hunt.  Don KF6GQ
