Transmitter Hunt

Hiders: K0OV, WA6OPS, WB6UZZ, KE6IPY, KE6WHR

It took a team of five to put on Saturday's Fullerton Radio Club T-hunt. We put a 200 milliwatt transmitter about a hundred feet from the east end of Oak Canyon Drive in Anaheim Hills. It was lower than street level and the 11-element yagi was even lower, at the end of a very long coax run, aimed at the Chino Hills but blocked from the starting point and the Wier Canyon exit. It was quite weak a block away from the end point, which explains why some teams went by that point more than once. Some even went to the end point and left without getting out of their vehicles.

Some say that the starting bearing went right over the T, but others disagree. In any case, we were surprised to see two T-hunt vehicles in the neighborhood at 8:30. One found the T soon after, and the other didn't arrive until midnight!

Our spies report that a couple of hunters spent quite a bit of time sniffing under the transition roads between the 91 freeway and the 241 toll road. That's where the "You are here" signals were.
