January 18th, 1999 Fullerton Transmitter Hunt

Hider: Clark WB6ADC

Clarke WB6ADC decided to hide alone this time out so Richard N6UZS could get some more time hunting behind the wheel of his "new-old" car.

After a couple of tests to the start point determined the signal to be S5 and 20 over S9 Clarke moved the tee to a different spot 2 times before the hunt even started at 8pm. When the hunt did start the signal was a considerably weaker S1-S2.

The tee was a 1.5 watt AF6O box into a 5/8ths mag mount situated horizontally. Mag mount was attached to a power junction box on a light standard just 100 feet south of the Experian(ex-TRW Credit Services) building in the old City Shopping Center now-turned The Block At Orange on City Drive South and the 22 freeway.

The antenna was pretty much touching the ground with the null going in a north-south direction and most of the signal bouncing off the old Bank of America tower across the parking lot.
