My plan early in the week was to do something new. So, I bought ELK beam and painted it. Then planed on preparing everything I needed for the hide on Thursday. Well Thursday morning I get a call from my father in law, he needs help putting in a wood floor, I spent the day doing that. I came home had late dinner and went to bed after an almost relaxing rest in front of the TV. Friday morning I ache and spend a while in the hot shower trying to loosen up… Anyway, I do what I can Friday to get ready and pack the gear in the Durango that night and hoping I have everything I need. Then I find out I can’t hide were I wanted to, so now I am looking for a new place and idea and of course a little more equipment. In bed Friday night 11 pm. Alarm goes off 3:30 am Saturday morning. 4 am going over the equipment list. 4:30 on the road. It’s raining on the way so I hope there won’t be too much mud on the dirt roads. On the way up hwy 38 I stop and take some great pictures of the valley floor. No rain this high up – Kool… I turn on the road to my spot and it’s blocked by the Forestry Service and Sheriff’s. They just told me to turn around and no access today. Crud now I need to find a new spot… I needed a place to some how get a signal back to the start point but not to be to high up. ToPo map was not helping much for listing the elevations very well so I followed the ridge lines around the map for elevations. Ok looks like this road might work. Time now 7:15 am; I call Deryl asking if he could go to the start point early and test, great he will call me in 30 min. I put the beam together and hope 5mw will work. 1st attempt it’s in the noise, I turn it 4 degrees “BINGO” No worries, main T-2 5mw can be herd at the start point.

8:55 am and the weather has changed so I hope it still can be herd and yup no problems, one hunter says it’s S5 in the roundabout at the start point. The hunt is on and I am off to place the other T’s.

Oh, did I mention I needed to watch for the Bears. I parked on there trail and they did not like me being there. Many groan’s and growls but did not see any.

The weather was perfect for a T-Hunt today. I turn on T-1 pack up a few things phone rings, someone wanted to know if I just turned on another T. 10 min later same question. I plant T-0 and guess what – Yup 2 more phone calls letting me know they can hear 3 T’s now… I was surprised they could hear T-0 since it’s all of 10mw’s into an omni antenna. Well I drive around find lots of trout and other creatures. Took some great pictures walked in the cold stream rushing down the Mountain and tried to catch up on some missed sleep. At some point I drove out on a meadow and parked and watched the road for hunters, finally I see IDF and SNE wondering around below me. Well they eventually head up my way and turned up the road I had moved to. We chit chat for a while and they go off to find the T’s with me following behind taking pictures. I think IDF needs a new sniffer don’t you think Melanie, since he was looking for 10 min and you walk out of the car and point to it with no equipment... hahaha We all had a good laugh.

Well as the day goes on the others show up with good story’s and laughs. I take down the beam and pick up the other T’s and go home.

Thanks for coming out guys. Glad you all enjoyed it.
