At the start point I had a nothing signal that I could hear on sideband
only, and from one small location at the north end of the parking lot. I
get a half-assed bearing of 60 degrees that puts the signal through the
Cajon Pass and the back side of Big Bear. I leave the hill last 10 minutes
after the last of the group, Dave and Melanie. I drive east out the 10 and
start to get firm bearings up through Seven Oaks. I run across Dave and
Melanie who just get to Mentone and Hwy 38 after going to Banning. I
proceed up 38, leapfrogging Dave all the way up 38. Just past the road to
Seven Oaks the bearing took a sharp turn North. Down to Seven Oaks and
River Road. On River Road the bearing took another sharp turn North and I'm
now up Frontline road, with Dave And Melanie behind me. Made a turn north
on a unnamed road next to Rattlesnake Creek and caught Steve parked in a
meadow sleeping. Found T-2 about half a mile past Steve. It was a Squakbox
hanging in tree, I could see a shiny part of it glinting in the sun. Found
T-1 about a tenth of a mile later at a bend in the unnamed road. It was an
M2 Beam painted camouflage I could see its elements sticking out of a bush.
Steve and I had some fun watching Dave sniff this thing out...if it had been
a snake it would have bit him. :-) Found T-0 about another tenth of a mile
or so down Frontline Road where it turned to go down Staircase Creek. On
the way back to Steve I decided to get stupid and drive the Jeep real fast.
It was fun until I damn near rolled over when I missed a turn at 50 MPH. I
took a divot out of the hillside and a bush came through the passenger
window when I laid the jeep over on it's side. Luckily It came down on its
wheels without damage...my nerves won't quite be the same however. All in
all it was fun hunt, and the weather was perfect.

Thanks Steve!
