Mini All Day

Hiders: Don KF6GQ and Steve KD6LAJ after switching with Scott N6MI

We thought that this would be a good area, not too far from the start, to put on an all-day. The first T (T3) to be found was on the west side of I5, just above Templin Hwy N. 34.576, W118.701. The signal was set, so that you only started to hear it, after you went by the only exit to it for the next 12 miles. Somehow Jippy got off this exit while trying to go someplace else. Most everybody else went to Vista Del Largo exit and came back south to the T. It was a Mini-T running about 5mw into a 5 element log periodic pointing north up the freeway. As the teams passed it, the signal went from nothing to a 50db over S9 signal! The next T (T5)  N. 34.833,  W118.918 was a Squawk Box attached to a 5 element beam point in the general direction of the start. It was on 9N01 at a power tower landing. T8 N. 34.839, W118.940 which was on the way up 9N01, wasn't found by any hunters as they went up to T5. This T was on a side road, with some interesting overhanging trees, ready to do in anrtennas. The next T's where around the corner of the mountain, across from Cuddy Valley. T7 (AF6O box) was not found, it was located at N34.855, W119.075, on a Black diamond road. The road didn't become a black diamond until after the location of the T. The Snake T was between T7 (AF6O box) and T7, it was located on a motorcycle trail, ( I went through it twice in two wheel drive). It's location was N34.850, W119.061. I guess there was a pen shortage at this location, as MI hiked in the 1/4 mile, and wasn't going to go back to get his pen. He did leave one of his trademark picks, so I knew he had been there. T7 was south of Snake T, and it was running about 500mw into a 1/4w vertical.. It's location was N34.847, W119.056. The next T was T2 LAJ and was running about 2 watts, it was located off Mt. Pinos rd. and was found only by AIN.. It's location was N34.824, W119.08. This T was heard all around the valley, and was used to get the hunters out into the valley to be able to hear the other ones. We want to thank all the hunters that came out on this hunt, and hope that you had a fun time. Unless RJN's Crenshaw factor is much lower than AIN's, We declare RJN the whiner er winner.
