Transmitter Hunt

Hider: Doug WA6RJN

My original location turned out to be unavailable. Fortunately, I had a secondary location in mind. It was on a ridge at the end of Dusty Trail. The area was around Sage Rd (S3) north of Hwy 79 (Sage Rd runs north to Hemet). As the main T was about to be set up, I was informed that it was on private property. The time was almost 10 AM so a new site had to be found in a hurry. T1’s 11-element beam was pointed north toward Big Bear. The original power was 3.5 watts but increased to 35W when I received reports that it was difficult to hear. I am not fond of hidden signal hunts.

The rest of the Ts were scattered nearby.T3 was running a half watt while the others were 50mW.

I was surprised that T1 seemed to be so difficult to find.
